Kit care · cable protection
Every plug-in kit comes with its own 4m lead that plugs straight into a socket. The job is to keep that lead safe and out of the way, never to make it longer.
A plug-in kit plugs straight into a weatherproof outdoor socket, with the lead it came with. Extension leads, cable reels and adaptors aren't allowed, so we don't sell them.
If the socket's too far from the sunny spot, the fix is a nearer socket. An electrician can fit a weatherproof outdoor one with modern RCD protection, and check your fuse box while they're there.
A low ramp over the lead where it crosses a path or patio, so nobody trips and nothing wheels over it.
Clips at intervals keep the lead tight to the brickwork, clear of the mower and the bins.
Run the lead along the edge in a cover rather than across the grass, where a mower could catch it.
