Tool · for kit owners
Which accessories suit the kit you've got?
Pick your kit, where it sits and how windy it gets. The finder lists the ballast and cable cover that suit it, and the add-ons we won't sell for it.
Ballast, covers and cleaning that fit
Everything we'll list for kit owners sits around the kit, never inside it. Nothing changes the kit as you registered it.
| Item | What it's for | When |
|---|---|---|
| Ballast blocks | Holding a ground-mount frame down | Coming soon |
| Cable covers | Protecting the kit's own lead | Coming soon |
| Cleaning kit | Soft brush, pole and panel-safe cleaner | Later |
| Security bolts and cable locks | Keeping the kit where you put it | Later |
What we won't sell for your kit, and why
- Batteries. A plug-in kit must never be used with a battery. Our batteries and power stations are standalone and never connect to one.
- Extra panels or a second kit. The rules allow one kit per household, used as it was registered.
- Extension leads, reels and adaptors. The kit plugs straight into a weatherproof outdoor socket within its own 4m lead.
- Spare or upgraded inverters. Swapping parts changes the kit you registered.
- Balcony, railing, roof or cladding mounts. These kits aren't for balconies, and wall, flat-roof or raised installs need a professional assessment first.
Need more power than one kit gives? That's a job for a rooftop solar installer.
Good habits for every kit owner
- Register the kit free at myplugin.solar before first use. Northern Powergrid runs the network in the North East.
- Tell your home insurer about it.
- Check your fuse box has modern RCD protection. An electrician can check it, and fit a weatherproof outdoor socket within the kit's 4m lead if you need one.
- Kits with more than 960W of panels (the Plus 1030W and Max 1260W) should have a professional check of your electrics.
- Get written permission first if you rent or are leasehold.

My kit isn't one of the six. Can you help?
We only hold figures for these six kits. For any other, follow its maker's manual for ballast and fixings. The cable advice suits any kit.
Why won't you sell a battery for my kit?
Because a plug-in kit must never be used with one. It's one of the rules that let plug-in kits connect to a home socket.
Will these accessories affect my registration?
No. Ballast and covers sit around the kit. They don't change the panels, inverter, lead or stand, so the kit stays as registered.
